If you opt to plan your own wedding, you should understand that there are so many things you need to keep in mind in order to make it happen. Anticipate certain things that lead to insanity. If so, you’re forgetting many aspects that will literally drive you crazy. Those who don’t plan are in for a disaster. Picking the right wedding favor is very important. Coming up with a good one, brides think this may be easier than reality as to shopping for an excellent choice is can prove to be difficult.
Wedding favors, though cute, are simply meant as a sign of appreciation. This tradition started long ago when people used decorations with treats included. The practice is not mandatory, though, but it has been part of the wedding tradition that is continuously believed to bring good luck to the marriage. A great site to help with this process is Wedding Favors
As the bride, you do have other major details that need more attention than picking party favors. This task might give you a headache, unless you are armed with great ideas on how to shop for them wisely. As there are unlimited possibilities, you will probably have a hard time choosing the best favors for your wedding. So, to cut the agony short, you will need to choose favors accordingly. Meaning, you need to consider the type of the wedding you have, the theme and of course your own personal taste.
Your wedding favors speak in behalf of you. You might choose to put a nice note on each favor, or you may consider engraving both of your names, initials or monograms. You can personalize these as much as you like. Through personalization, a unique touch is being added onto your wedding supplies.
One of the most popular wedding souvenirs nowadays are edible wedding favors, such as chocolates, fortune cookies, candies and mints, jams and even coffee, teas and wines.
Homemade wedding favors are also an option. Aside from the fact that they are less expensive than pre-made souvenirs displayed in a retail store, obviously, they were really made personalized by your own creativity and skills.
Online or in-store, there are multiple options for wedding favors. Without making it personalized there are multiple other options you can choose. You can have embroidered table napkins, engraved flutes, embroidered table napkins, personalized centerpieces, engraved groomsmen and bridesmaids gifts.

When you are thinking about serving dessert at your next party, consider offering your guests one of these delicious, homemade desserts. I have found that of all the desserts I have served, these are my “Top 3 Most Requested Delicious Desserts” (in no particular order). Enjoy!

Number One Most Requested Delicious Dessert–Raspberry White Chocolate Dream Bars

1 box white cake mix

1/3 cup evaporated milk

1-1/2 sticks melted butter

1 cup chopped nuts

1/2 cup seedless raspberry jam

12 oz. white chocolate chips

Combine cake mix, milk, butter and nuts. Makes a very gooey dough. Spray a 9 x 13 pan and spread half of the dough into the bottom of the pan. Bake for 10 minutes at 350 degrees.

Melt the jam in the microwave (about a minute) and spread on top of hot crust. Immediately sprinkle chocolate chips over jam. Crumble remaining dough on top and bake an additional 20-25 minutes. Cool completely before cutting.

For bigger parties, this recipe easily doubles and can be made in a 15 x 10 pan.

Once you get the hang of this technique, you can think of all sorts of combinations. How about using chocolate cake with mint chips? Or lemon cake with white chocolate?

Number Two Most Requested Delicious Dessert–Chocolate Amaretto Bundt Cake

1 pkg. chocolate devil’s food cake mix

1 small pkg. instant chocolate pudding mix

4 eggs

1 cup milk

1-1/2 oz. Amaretto liqueur

1/2 cup vegetable or canola oil

1 cup semi sweet chocolate chips

1 cup fresh raspberries (optional)

1/2 cup seedless raspberry jam (optional)

Whipped cream (optional)

Glaze

1 stick butter

3/4 cup sugar

1/2 cup Amaretto

Preheat oven to 325 degrees. Combine first 6 ingredients and blend well. Stir in chips. Grease and flour a bundt pan. Pour batter into the prepared pan.

Bake for 1 hour or until toothpick comes out clean.

Melt glaze ingredients in a saucepan or microwave. Pour 2/3 of glaze over top of cake while cake is hot from oven and still in pan. Allow cake to remain in pan for 25 minutes. Remove cake from pan and drizzle with remaining glaze.

When I make this cake dessert, I fill the middle with fresh raspberries and present it on my grandmother’s crystal pedestal cake stand which is very dramatic.

Just before serving, I make a raspberry sauce by melting the jam in the microwave.

Each lucky guest gets a plate with some of the sauce, a slice of cake, a few berries and some whipped cream. Yum!

Number Three Most Requested Delicious Dessert–Mystic Mint Cookies

These are melt-in-your-mouth heaven!

Dough

1 cup sugar

1 stick (1/2 cup) butter, softened

1 teaspoon vanilla

1 egg

2 squares (1 oz. each) unsweetened chocolate, melted and cooled

1 cup all purpose flour

1/2 teaspoon salt

Heat oven to 375 degrees.

Mix sugar, butter, vanilla, egg and unsweetened chocolate. Stir in flour and salt.

Drop dough by rounded teaspoonfuls about 2 inches apart onto ungreased cookie sheet. Flatten each cookie with fingertips. Bake until set, about 8 minutes. Remove to cooling racks and cool completely.

Peppermint Frosting

2-1/2 cups powdered sugar

1/2 stick (1/4 cup) butter, softened

3 tablespoons milk

1/2 teaspoon peppermint extract

Mix all frosting ingredients until smooth and of spreading consistency.

Chocolate Drizzle

1/2 stick (1/4 cup) butter, softened

2 tablespoons corn syrup

1-6 oz. package semisweet chocolate chips

Simmer all drizzle ingredients over low heat. Stir constantly until butter and chocolate are melted.

Spread peppermint frosting over cooled cookies then drizzle each with chocolate mixture. Leave on counter for 2-3 hours until frosting is set.

If you serve any of these homemade desserts, you can count on your guests being very happy. And I will bet that you will be handing out recipes, just like I do at my house.

He was born and bred in a small town on the outskirts of South Africa, in the Bushman-land where summer turns life into a living hell and winter freezes it in its totality. Cruel land of extremes……….

War broke out during his last year of school and before long, he found himself crossing the blue African skies as a fighter pilot. Sharing a bungalow with 29 RAFs, English became like a mother tongue. He met his wife during the war. An Irish girl with long, pitch-black hair and eyes that reminded him of the blue skies where he served his country. It was love at first sight and they got married while the war was still on. At first her non church-going Catholic parents merely tolerated their new son-in-law who was to be a preacher in a Protestant domination, and his staunch Afrikaner parents rebelled against the new Irish-Catholic daughter-in-law. But love conquers all, and finally the families made peace and accepted each other.

It was only after the war that he went to university to study Theology, and he did so in faith. His father was a poor farmer who could not afford to send his four sons to university, but he brought them up in the ways of the Lord, and the preacher knew where to find his resources. So did his three brothers, and God provided well for them all and they were never short of anything – The Lord is my Shepherd, I shall not want – and the bills got paid……. month after month after month…………

While still at university, his wife gave birth to a stillborn boy, and a year later to a little girl who was sickly at first, but the angels did babysitting while the couple was busy with their required daily activities…………

His first calling was back to the rigid, callous Bushman-land with its ruthless sun and its need of sheltering shadows He worked hard and was always supported by his wife, who could by then speak Afrikaans. But time marched on and the years tinted their once dark hair a soft silvery colour. The moon shines with gentle compassion on those who tasted life to the fullest. A few more callings took him through the Karoo, Namibia and back to where he is now serving the Lord on the High Veld.

Saturday afternoons allow for time alone in his study while preparing for the Sunday sermons. The windows are open and he takes pleasure in the variety of bird songs that come to him in a hundred different harmonies. Songs written by the Good Lord Himself……… His eyes pan over the private collection of over four thousand books. They have become his best friends, his intimate friends. The grand old Emboya desk with matching swivel chair was a birthday present from his wife. Not long now, and she will bring their 4 o’clock coffee with homemade chocolate-chip cookies on a neatly decorated tray. Saturday afternoon ritual of two gray-winged doves…..

Within five years’ time he will retire, something for which they started preparing many years ago. Together they dream of a cute two-bedroom, two-bathroom cottage by the sea, with a spacious open plan kitchen-living room area. Only their favorite furniture will be send down, and only one car will be kept. The Stinkwood lounge suite that was a grand investment some 30 years ago, and grandma’s bone China tea-set which she inherited. Her own Royal Albert set, and as many of his leather-bound books as they can fit in……. The West coast of so many of their dreams where they will walk long summer walks during early evenings. Where they will have time to listen to Mozart’s piano concertos and the operas of Pucinni. Where she will have enough time to paint again, and he will write poetry and a long promised autobiography.

And time will be time, caught in the hourglass, and locked up for all eternities to come.

Your girlfriend knows her way around the kitchen. She can go in there, pull out some pots and pans and in about 30 minutes you smell a tantalizing aroma wafting through the air. Count yourself lucky that you’ve got a woman who enjoys cooking and eating as much as you enjoy eating good food.

Now, finding girlfriend gift ideas for her shouldn’t be too hard, because there are countless kitchen gadgets around that do all kinds of things like, chopping, mixing, frying, grilling and baking. Your real challenge is to narrow your choices down to a few good items that you know she’ll really like. You can either get her a gift that helps her fix food in the kitchen, or, you can get her something delicious to eat.

If you want to focus on getting her a helpful kitchen item, then go into her kitchen and take a look around to see what items she already has. A quick chopper would be a nice gift, but maybe she already has one or more. If she has a nice mixer or blender, then you can scratch that off your list. If she drinks coffee, see if she has a coffee maker – if so, check to see if it looks old and tired. Check the condition of her mixing bowls and cooking utensils. These could be replaced with brand shiny new ones. Maybe she would appreciate a new casserole dish set.

If you want to focus on a food gift, then you probably already have an idea of what she likes to eat. If she enjoys eating seafood, steak, chicken, soul food, Italian, French, Asian or any style American food, you can arrange to take her out for an evening of fine dining. Or, you can order specialty food items from an online vendor and both of you can enjoy eating it at home.

If she loves sweets, there are delicious items like: chocolate assortments, specialty cakes, cookies and even a box of nostalgia candy. You could order a food gift basket online, or be adventurous and make your own food gift basket. Go to a department store, or craft store, and purchase a basket or nice looking box, get some colorful ribbon, then go grocery shopping for lots of treats you know she loves.

Here are a few more gift suggestions:

Ice Cream Maker – it used to be so much hassle making homemade ice cream, but today’s electric ice cream makers are so easy to use that all you need to do is add the ingredients and push a button.

Sandwich Press – she can make all kinds of hot, grilled sandwiches using ingredients like cheese, turkey, beef, tuna, onions and peppers with an electric sandwich maker. It’s fast and easy to use.

Bread Maker – many home cooks can now easily enjoy the taste of freshly made bread with a home bread making machine. You simply add the ingredients and turn on the machine. It does all the work of kneading and baking.

Electric Grill – she can enjoy healthier meals in minutes with a top quality electric grill. Plug it in and grill up chicken, fish, burgers and lots of other favorites. Make sure you get a brand that is easy to clean.

Because it was coming up to Christmas vacation I had some spare time, so I decided that it would be appropriate to make some unique Christmas ornaments. I started to make some original hand made Christmas ornaments that I would be pleased to hang on my Christmas tree.

Beaded Christmas ornaments are a creative and easy way to add a personal touch to your Christmas tree. Beaded Christmas ornaments are nice, and some of the vintage Christmas ornaments on sale recently are quite wonderful to look at, but for me the crucial matter in Christmas tree and other decorations is to be creative, and to create something that reflects my personality in some way.

For me, beaded Christmas ornaments achieve this.

Christmas decorations help you honor the things that matter you to most: your friends and family. Also, Christmas ornaments can produce a amusing craft activity for the everyone.

My brother is a pretty decent carpenter, or at least he was when he was at school, so I also decided to try a wooden Christmas decoration, with a little help! When I was done, it looked reasonable.

The earliest unique Christmas ornament I ever had was hand made. It was a wonderful pewter photo frame hanging from a silver hook. I was very impressed by the way it hung on the Christmas tree. It was a labor of love from my mom, after all, and I like to always display it to recall my love for her.

Whether you prefer beaded Christmas ornaments, wooden handmade Christmas ornaments, or something from a store, don’t overlook utilizing personalization into your Christmas ornaments this year.

You may be surprised by how greatly pesonalized Christmas ornaments add to your Christmas festivities!

My sister creates ornaments out of common household items. She is great with arty things, and finds a lot of simple ways to develop ornamental items of things that would otherwise be thrown out. You could utilize tin foil, papier mache, glitter, tinsel, crepe paper, and popsicle sticks. They’re all well suited to designing beaded Christmas ornaments out of. You could even bake some little cookie treats, or homemade chocolates, wrap them creatively, with names written on them, and hang them on the Christmas tree.

With some color and a lot of imagination, you can develop lovely personalized Christmas ornaments that are perfect to be given as personalized Christmas gifts.

Brides and grooms around the world are thanking their guest with small gift items called wedding favors. The wedding favor can be almost anything that shows appreciation. Some wedding favors are homemade, but most brides buy their favors from professionals. The most important aspect of the wedding favors is that it shows that you care. With favors you let people know that their presence is important and appreciated.
There are many different kind of wedding favors. Here are some of the most important categories.
Personalized Wedding Favors
Personalization adds that special personal touch so many brides and grooms seek. The most important personalized wedding favors are personalized chocolate bars. The custom wrapped chocolates enable to the bride and groom to have their names and date printed on the wrapper. Some companies even print a special message like “Thank you for sharing our special day!” on the back. Certainly, almost any wedding favor can be personalized but personalized candy is the most important of all.
Flower Seeds
Flower seeds are becoming more and more popular wedding favors. There are too many creative options to present flower seeds as favors to mention, but printed flower seed bags are among the most popular. Some companies even offer printing messages such as “I Love You!” on plantable beans. Flower seed wedding favors are popular with guests because once planted, they are a constant reminder of your wedding day.
Soaps and Beauty Favors
Rose soap petals are beautiful and also functional wedding favors. There is a company that offers a personalized champagne shape bottle filled with bath gel. Soaps and beauty wedding favors are great to be placed in the hotel rooms of your out of town guests. A heart shape manicure set or compact mirror is sure to be a hit with your guest.
Candle Wedding Favors
Both men and women can enjoy candle wedding favors. Candles come in all shapes, colors, and themes. There are candles in the shape of wedding cakes. Rose shape candles are a sure hit with flower lovers. Seashell gel candles are the perfect wedding favor for the beach theme or destination wedding.
Chrome and Metal Favors
Chrome wedding favors ad a touch of elegance to any wedding. A chrome wine stopper or bottle opener is a great way to ad a touch of elegance to your wedding. The chrome wedding favors may be a bit more expensive, but your guest will cherish them for a long time.

If you are a busy mom with small children, you know how tough it can be to find quick snacks to feed to your children. In our house, I avoid the easy choice of feeding potato chips, pretzels, candy bars and other store bought food to our daughter by preparing homemade snacks. Yes, we should all be feeding our children healthy foods like fresh fruits and vegetables, but there is nothing wrong with letting them snack on crackers, cereal mixes and peanut butter fried tortillas. I believe foods such as these, should be given in moderation. These 4 recipes have always been a favorite here in our house. You can easily prepare any of these recipes in just a few minutes.Peanut Butter Banana Tortilla1 flour tortilla2-3 tablespoons peanut butter1/2 banana, thinly sliced2 teaspoons butterPlace butter in a frying pan and melt over low heat. Spread 2-3 tablespoons of peanut butter on one side of a tortilla, layer sliced banana on top. Fold tortilla in half, place in fry pan and lightly fry on each side for 1 minute or until lightly browned. Remove. Let cool and slice into wedges.Cereal Snack Mix12 oz. semi-sweet chocolate chips12 oz. butterscotch chips1 teaspoon butter1 box of Chex cereal2 cups confectioner’s sugarPlace cereal in a large mixing bowl. Melt chocolate and butterscotch chips with butter in a large saucepan, stirring constantly. Remove from heat; pour mixture over cereal and mix well. Pour confectioner’s sugar over cereal. Cover bowl and shake until all ingredients are mixed. Baked Mozzarella BitesMozzarella Cheesecrackers Cut Mozzarella cheese to fit between 2 crackers and place on a baking sheet. Preheat oven to 325 degrees and put crackers with cheese in them into the oven for 5 minutes or until cheese melts.Strawberry Cracker Sandwiches1 teaspoon strawberry cream cheese 2 Ritz Crackers1 teaspoon strawberry preservesSpread cream cheese and strawberry preserves onto your cracker. Top with an additional cracker.

Diwali, or Deepavali, is the Hindu festival of lights. It is celebrated in a big way in India and Nepal, where it is called Tihar. The term Deepavali is of Sanskrit origin, which means an array of lamps. The word ‘deep’ means clay lamp and ‘avali’ means an array. The celebration of the festival signifies the victory of good over evil within oneself. The word Diwali is actually a corruption of the Sanskrit term Deepavali. Today it is celebrated by Sikhs, Jains, Hindus, and even some Buddhists all around the globe. The festival has a deep significance since ancient times. According to the Vedic culture, the message of Diwali is to eradicate the world from darkness and lead it towards the self-illuminated light within. Here, each individual is likened to a brightly lit clay lamp. The message is to collectively participate in the endeavour, as it is not just the effort of one individual. The differences between the high and low are forgotten, as the aim is to usher in equanimity and equality in society.Traditionally, the celebration of Deepavali is associated with a number of mythological events. In Northern India, Deepavali is celebrated to celebrate the return of King Rama to his Kingdom Ayodhaya after from a 14 year exile and victory over the demon king Ravana. The people of Ayodhaya lit an array of clay lamps to celebrate his return. In Southern India, another legend describes the victory of Lord Krishna over the demon Narakasura. In western India, it is celebrated in the honour of the King Bali who went to rule the nether world by the order of Lord Vishnu. The festival has varied significance all over India. In West Bengal, it is celebrated in honour of Goddess Durga. Particularly, in the north of India, Hindu merchants open their new books and pray to Goddess Laxmi for a joyful and prosperous new year. In most parts of India, people get up early before dawn on Diwali and pray to the Lord for their spiritual advancement.Additionally, Diwali is celebrated over a period of five days in many parts of India. These days include Dhanteras, Naraka Chadurdashi, Lakshmi Puja, Govardhana Puja, and Bhai Duj. On Dhanteras, which actually means the thirteenth day of the lunar month, people purchase utensils and gold as it is considered an auspicious occasion. On Naraka Chaturdashi, people commemorate the slaying of the demon Narakasura as it was the 14th day on which the demon was killed. On Laxmi Puja, people worship Goddess Laxmi, which is considered the Goddess of wealth and prosperity. Govardhan Puja is the worship of Lord Krishna, which is celebrated as the day on which Lord Krishna obtained victory over Lord Indra. In Gujarat, this day is also celebrated as the New Year, and the first day of the new Vikram Samavat. On Bhai Dooj, sisters meet brothers and vice versa and exchange presents and sweets to express their fondness and affection for each other.Every one in the family gets up early in the morning and puts on new clothes. Especially on this day, children and parents alike burst crackers, make use of a variety of fireworks at night and light lamps to celebrate the occasion. It’s a great joy to see crackers bursting and joyful people all around celebrating this festival with a lot of happiness and gaiety. On many occasions, even people of other faiths join together in celebrating this occasion as one.On this occasion, people exchange a lot of gifts between each other. Families and friends alike give and accept gifts like sweets, puja thalis, dry fruits, homemade chocolates, diyas, candles, wall hangings, decor items, gift hampers, jewellery, apparel, flowers, bhai dooj gifts and so on.The business community celebrates the festival by exchanging gifts like corporate gift hampers, gift baskets, designer gift boxes, pen sets, diaries, watches, perfumes, mobiles, and the like.Nowadays, many Indians have settled abroad in countries like the United Sates, United Kingdom, Australia, New Zealand, and other countries. Therefore, this festival is being celebrated by a lot of expatriates in the same graceful manner as it is celebrated on the home front.

The art of gratitude from the bride and groom in the form of wedding favors never go out of style. Depending on your budget, you can spend a large amount or a small amount on wedding favors for your special day. It is more the creativity and meaning behind the gift that matters rather than the cost of the wedding favors. The wedding favor industry is vast and makes it easy to find the right wedding favor, so don’t skip on the wedding favors. The little gesture of thank you to your guests in the form of wedding favors is never mundane and is much appreciated.

If Jordan Almonds aren’t your style, other wedding favors that never go out of style are available to give you more ideas. The following traditional wedding favors can be incorporated into brand new ideas:

Giving silver plated favors has always been part of wedding traditions. Silver frames can be used as place card holders with pictures of the happy couple to take home for your wedding guests.
